My Background
Both my professional and personal life has given me a wealth of experience which helps me to empathic as a counsellor. I originally trained as a social worker working in mental health and drug and alcohol dependency. It soon became clear to me that behind a lot of how people were presenting and what they were struggling with lay in unresolved mental health difficulties. This was why I decided to train as a counsellor; to help work with the source of these difficulties and find other less harmful ways of coping.
Since qualifying as a counsellor in 2014, I specialized in working with adult survivors of childhood trauma which required a long term commitment but found the courage and possibilities of recovery for clients very rewarding.
I also worked for many years, with people living with long term disability and learned how our responses to the challenges we face can make such a difference. This lead me into thinking 'ouside the box' and further self exploration and training in working with nature, creativity and mindfulness which have now formed a fundamental part of my work.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). This means I adhere to the Ethical Framework for good practice and proficency.
